HALLOWEEN - A FUN FESTIVAL

Ancient people believed that ghosts came back to Earth on Halloween. It is said that spirits of the dead came back to Earth. The celebration of Halloween is therefore associated with the idea of good fortune.

To make our little ones aware about Halloween, the teachers of Satluj Public School, Sector-2, Panchkula were involved with activities typical of it, on 31st October 2019. The children were shown pumpkins and how they are carved for Halloween. The greeting trick or treat echoed through the corridors on this special day as all the excited students paraded the entire school.

A special ‘spooky corner’ was created for the children where every child who stepped in got a tattoo and even got to listen to a ghost story! These scholars visited all the classes in the school and enjoyed scaring everyone.

Director Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai congratulated and wished the entire Satluj faculty for the beginning of a new cycle of the Wheel of the year. He mentioned that Halloween is the time when people let go of negative energies and celebrate the new and positive energies.

WORLD RIVERS DAY

World Rivers Day was celebrated in Satluj Public School, Sector – 2, Panchkula on 27th September 2019. Students of Grade – III presented an assembly to mark this special day. Children were made aware about the importance of rivers and the do’s and don’ts were discussed to keep the rivers clean. The message ‘Save Rivers’ was depicted by various items like – mime, skit, song, dance, etc. It was followed by various classroom activities also like – slogan writing, poster making, rhyme recitation, etc. Director Principal, Mr. Gur K. Serai appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students. He said that rivers are a vital component of our ecosystem and it is our foremost duty to keep them clean.

Keeping in line the theme of enjoyment, fervour and celebration, scholars of Satluj Public School, Sector 2, Panchkula presented a special assembly on Teej on Saturday, 3rd August 2019. The celebrations included enthralling dance performances and several enactments by Grade – III scholars. The children spoke about the festival, its cultural importance, way of celebration, famous food items etc. To give a vibrant touch to the festival, teachers also presented a folk dance and expressed their joy for this auspicious festival.

Chairman of the school, Mr. Pritam Singh Serai lauded the joint efforts of students and teachers for participating with zeal and zest on this eve. He said that by celebrating such festivals, a school acquaints the children with their culture and tradition. He further mentioned that such festivities are important for holistic learning experiences of the students.

SAVE THE NATURE’S BIGGEST CATS- TIGERS

Shoot the “tiger” with the camera not with the gun. Look at the tigers mighty and strong, killing them for their fur is very wrong. Save tiger otherwise you will lose the pride. International Tiger Day was celebrated on 29th July in Satluj Public School, Sector-2, Panchkula to raise awareness about the conservation of tigers and protection of their natural habitat. The students showcased their collective support for it. The message “Save Tigers” was made loud and clear through various activities like slogan writing, poster making, marching rallies, skit, etc. Scholars of grade III presented a special assembly where they highlighted the importance of saving tigers in order to keep the food chain intact and to maintain the ecological balance. The teachers guided the scholars to say ‘NO’ to the products made up of animal skin like belts, purses and bags. Director Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai encouraged and appreciated the scholars for raising this concern. He said that animals are an integral part of our ecosystem and their conservation is equally important for all of us. He also mentioned the need to save all the endangered animals.

Cambridge Young Learners Examinations

Award ceremony OF proficiency in English Language Certificates of Cambridge Assessment English, a part of University of Cambridge, United Kingdom was held on Thursday, 07th May 2019 at Satluj Public School (Junior Wing), Sector-2, Panchkula. The event celebrated the success of 410 scholars in English Language Examinations. This is an International English Language examination conducted by the British Council.

To celebrate this great achievement, students sang songs of happiness, danced, presented a skit about aspirations and a Talk Show about their experience and benefits they gained from these courses.

On the occasion, the special Guests of Honour from the British Council said that we are delighted to share laud the initiative of Satluj Public School to provide a platform to help students in developing their language skills and gain international certification.

The Chairman, Mr. Pritam Singh Serai, said, “Cambridge English Certificates are accepted throughout the world as evidence of ability to speak, read, write and listen English language. We are delighted that our students measure up to international standards English linguistic skills.

The Director / Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai said this is a proud moment for Satlujians as they have outshined and are being awarded with trophies, medals and certificates. He wished all the best to YLE Scholars for their future examinations.

COLOURS DAY

Colours Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the Pre-Primary wing of Satluj Public School, Junior Wing, Sector – 2, Panchkula on Friday, 26th April 2019. Teachers and students were dressed up in pretty Green and Red colours. The classrooms were beautifully decorated according to the theme with flash cards and balloons.

Students were taught the identification and recognition of colours through fruits, vegetables, flowers and things around their surroundings. Various games and activities were organised related to the colours. They were brought colourful snacks and eatables in their tiffins. They recited poems and learnt about the significance of colours.

WELCOME PARTY

A fresher’s party was organised in the Pre-Primary section of Junior Wing of Satluj Public School, Sector 2, Panchkula to welcome new scholars. The enthusiastic Satlujians were dressed as their favourite superheroes. Superman, Spiderman and Powerpuff girls stole the show. The creativity of the parents reached the zenith when they sent their children dressed as brave soldiers – The real superheroes of our motherland. Scholars spend the entire day enjoying the various innovative activities and games like Gambit, Super Duper Obstacle course, Kryptonite Crush Game, etc.

Dancing, singing and colouring activities added merriment, fun and frolic. Each scholar went back happy and contented.

World Health Day

6th of April 2019
World Health Day was celebrated on the 6th of April 2019 by the enthusiastic scholars of Satluj Public School, Sector – 2, Panchkula. The highly motivated students actively participated in Global Health awareness activities. Health related issues like healthy food habits, balanced diet, avoiding junk food, personal hygiene were addressed through a plethora of engrossing activities. Poster making tearing and pasting and colouring activities were conducted to commemorate the occasion. The day turned out to be extremely eventful.

Special assembly was commemorated by Junior Satlujians to celebrate the birthday of the father of the nation. Students of Grade-IV (Rosemary) presented short skits depicting the inspiring incidents of Gandhiji’s life. They also performed a group song and a patriotic dance. Nukkad Natak with the theme of “Swatch Bharat, Swasth Bharat” was appreciated by all. Later various activities like slogan writing, paragraph writing and poster making were held in the classes. Aniket Saxena was dressed as Gandhi ji.

On the occasion, the Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai motivated students to maintain health and hygiene as part of “Swatch Bharat Abhiyaan”. The function was a fruitful venture towards cleanliness.

Teachers Support Programme was organized at Satluj Public School, Junior Wing Panchkula by Cambridge University Press. The seminar was well attended by various schools across the tricity. The trainer Ms. Harpreet Sodhi trained the teachers for Young Learners English courses. Interesting and engaging activities were held along with introduction of latest interactive teaching techniques. The junior wing Principal Mr. Gur K Serai appreciated the initiative of Cambridge University press for organising such sessions for teachers which helps them to use innovation in their regular teaching. He emphasized the importance of the power of speaking grammatically correct English in this competitive world.

Junior Satlujians celebrated Janamashtami

 

Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Pre-primary students of Satluj Public School, Sector-2, Panchkula. Children were beautifully dressed up as Radha, Krishna, Gopies and Gwalas.  The assembly hall was decorated , to create the ambience  of Dwapar Yug. Children performed short skits based on the life of Lord  Krishna. The whole atmosphere was enriched by drama and dances.

 

As the part of Janmashtami celebrations, students of Pre-Primary and Class 1 were taken to Radha Krishan Temple in sector-2, Panchkula to show the tableau. Students were asked to draw and decorate Handi in their drawing files.

 

The Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai appreciated the efforts of the parents in dressing up the children. He mentioned about the Geeta saar “karma karo phal ki ichcha na karo”.

Commendation certificates and gifts were given to teachers by the management of Satluj Public School for their outstanding roles in the various areas of teaching and learning on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.

Students presented a skit, performed dances and sang songs & poems for their teachers. Exciting games, fashion show were organized.  Titles were given to teachers to make their day special. The Principal, Mr. Gur K. Serai congratulated all teaching faculty and said “Teachers are nation builders. They are a great source of inspiration for others. A good teacher is always a learner and helps in moulding future citizen”.

Satlujians dressed as Community Helpers

Enthusiastic junior Satlujians of reception classes actively participated in the Fancy Dress competition held at Satluj Public School, junior Wing.  “ Community Helpers “was the  theme of the competition. The idea of conducting this activity was to spread awareness about the valuable contribution rendered by all the community helpers. Their relentless services help in making our lives comfortable. Dignity of labour and equality of classes were highlighted. It was an endeavour to inculcate love and respect amongst all. The best three students were given certificates for their confidence and creativeness The Director Mr. Pritam Singh Serai appreciated the efforts of the students and guided all the children to give due regards and respect to the community helpers.

PRESS NOTE ON PINK DAY

Pink colour signifies love, beauty and kindness. As a part of colours identification activity, pink day was celebrated by Pre- Primary children of Satluj Public School, Junior Wing. All the children looked charming in pink colour dresses. Children participated enthusiastically in all the activities related to the identification of the colour. They were guided to draw objects like flower, butterfly and to fill pink colour. They were also taught that pink colour is formed by mixing of red and white colour. Children enjoyed all the related activities and thus the purpose of celebration of pink colour day was fulfilled. Children were given take away of pink colour.

Van mahotsav – Satlujians vowed to save the trees

 

The environment aware students of Satluj Public School, Junior Wing, Sector – 2, Panchkula have taken a vow to save trees.  They did it by taking the initiative to promote the tree plantation drive to commemorate the occasion of  Van Mahotsav 2018.

The children were involved in various exciting activities like slogan writing, collage making and planting saplings, etc.

They also took out a rally to spread the importance and awareness of trees.

The honourable Director, Mr. Pritam Singh Serai, who himself is a great lover of plants and nature as a whole, planted saplings around the school’s periphery.

Finally, the respected and beloved Principal, Mr. Gur K. Serai addressed the children with his inspiring speech laying emphasis on the importance of trees.

Award of “Recognition of Association”

A special award for “Recognition of Association” has been presented to Satluj Public School, Junior Wing by Cambridge University Press. The award was given for the contribution of Satluj in creating value for the English Teaching and learning community through the use of official Cambridge resources and assessments.
Satluj has been selected among the top school in the tricity. We were appreciated for our initiative to provide a platform to help students in developing their language skills and gain international certification.
We at Satluj were awarded as the Best Cambridge Preparation centre for young scholars in South East Asia. Our pedagogy in teaching English was well recognized. The Cambridge UK team along with the British Ambassador in India recognized our significant achievements. The Principal Gur K Serai was given the opportunity to address the delegates in Delhi and Chandigarh. Cambridge UK wants Satluj to replicate the success they have had in teaching and learning of English with other schools in Northern India.

Taekwondo Championship

SATLUJIANS WON GOLD IN TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP
Mokshda Thakur and Surya Boora brought laurels for Satluj by winning Gold and Bronze medals at 4th Open GTA Taekwondo championship held at Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh. Mokshda of Class IV won gold medal under 32 kg category and Surya of Class 1 won bronze medal under the category of 25 kg. Congratulations to both of our students and to Mr. Mahesh Thakur for training students for Taekwondo.

Republic Day and Annual Sports Day celebrations

Annual Sports Day Prize Distribution function and Republic Day was celebrated in the Junior Wing of Satluj Public School on Friday, 26th January 2018. The Director, Mr. Pritam Singh Serai unfurled the Tri colour flag which was followed by National Anthem and March Past.
Final races and sports events were commenced by lighting of lamp by the best athletes of Satluj. Students participated in various drills, races, events, recreational games. Prizes and medals were given for excellence in athletics, gymnastics, skating, Relay Race, Sack Race, 100 meter Race, 400 meter race etc. The most colourful event of the function was tricycle rally by Pre-primary classes. Cycling gives Health and Saves Money” was the motto behind this. Cycles were colourfully and thematically decorated.
Mr. Gur K. Serai, Principal of the school said, “Fitness and Sports play a fundamental part in the over-all development of an individual. It was great to be part of a fabulous Sports Day.

As a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Satlujians held a cleanliness drive in Pinjore and Kalka. Students, teachers along with the Principal Mr. Gur K Serai met the local residents and made them aware about the importance of a clean environment and personal hygiene. The MLA of Kalka Constituency Smt. Latika Sharma highly appreciated the initiative taken by parents, students, faculty and management of Satluj Public School, Junior Wing.

Halloween celebrations took place in the Junior Wing of Satluj Public School, Sector-2, Panchkula on Tuesday, 31st October 2017. Teachers were dressed up as Halloween characters and presented a humorous skit. Students of Grade IV shared the origin and history of Halloween. In the end the scholars of Grade III presented a special mask dance. On the occasion, the Principal said, “It is important for children to have a flavour of Global celebrations, as children living in India are not just Indian citizens but global citizens of the world”.

Panchkula, 3 November: Cambridge Assessment English (part of the University of Cambridge) has awarded Satluj Public school, Panchkula, as one of the Best 50 Preparation centres in South Asia. Satluj Public school is established with the intention of providing excellence in education and has been successful in achieving it for more than a decade.

The award ceremony was graced by Mr. Manish Puri, Head of Business Development, South Asia, Cambridge Assessment, English, The Director Mr. Pritam Singh Serai, The Prinicipal Mr. Gur K. Serai, distinguished guests, teachers and students.

To celebrate this great achievement students sang songs of happiness, danced, presented a skit about aspirations and a Talk show about their experience and benefits they gained from these courses.

PRESS NOTE ON DIWALI CELEBRATIONS

Satlujians celebrated Diwali with their fellow mates and teachers in a special assembly. Celebrations started with the history of the festival that why do we celebrate Diwali. It was followed by short skit with the message not polluting the environment by fire crackers. The Principal guided all the students to have safe and green Diwali. The celebrations were concluded by a special dance with diyas and Diwali feast.

PRESS NOTE ON A MOCK FIRE DRILL FOR FIRE SAFETY

A mock drill for fire safety was held at Junior Wing of Satluj Public School wherein the scholars were acquainted with the safety measures to be taken at the time of actual fire outbreak. Not only the drill made the scholars aware about the evacuation process through set escape routes but also instilled in them confidence to face an unforeseen event. The Principal stated about the protocol and precautions to be taken at the end of drill.

Press note on Dusshera and Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan

Satlujians took out an awareness rally on the occasion of SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN. Students of Grade IV walked with the messages of keeping our environment clean. They were spreading the message through posters and banners. The rally was being led by the Principal Mr. Gur Serai. Students also presented a special assembly forging the theme of Swachh Bharat. The Director Mr. Pritam Singh Serai guided the students to keep the surroundings of school and neighbourhood neat and clean.

DUSSEHRA CELEBRATIONS Students of classes III and IV were trained to present inspirational episodes of Ramayana in morning assembly. Students presented excellent drama and stage confidence skills. In the end of each episode students were asked the moral of the episodes. The Director said that truth prevails & evils awlays fails.

11th October 2017

Cambridge English Language Assessment organised Teacher Support Programme for teachers of tricity, Haryana and Punjab. The aim of the workshop was to make teachers aware of the new changes made in the curriculum of English Language by the University of Cambridge. New vocabulary words, innovative and creative teaching methodologies were introduced. The trainer Mr. Kalpesh from Yorkshire, U.K. presented the syllabi and the content of the latest curriculum. Teachers found the workshop very useful and engaging. The Principal Mr. Gur K. Serai of Satluj Public School thanked all the teachers for their effective participation. While interacting with teachers he said that they should take the maximum benefit of this programme for better teaching and learning.

Satluj Public School, Junior Wing, Sector-2, Panchkula won trophies and gold medals at the Panchkula Open Chess Championship 2017 and Panchkula school district chess championship..

The Panchkula Open Chess Championship 2017 was held at St. Teresa Convent School on, 3rd September 2017 in under-9 and Under-13 category.

Jasmine Kaur stood second and got cash prize of 500 along with one silver medal in Panchkula Open Chess Championship 2017. Adharva, Ishmael and Akshit won Bronze medal in individual under-9 category Panchkula Open Chess Championship 2017.

The Panchkula school district chess championship was held at The Gurukul School, Panchkula on 23rd August 2017 in under-11 category.

Our Girls team won 3rd position in under 9 category and the boys team won 1st position in under 9 category.

The Principal, Mr. Gur K Serai motivated the children to practice well and to excel at the state level competition which will be held during the month of September.

Mr. Pritam Singh Serai, Director, Satluj Public School, congratulated the winners and the teacher for their achievement.
